[00:18] (18.88s)
you're coming along here's the plan
[00:21] (21.24s)
we'll leave Seward in the evening of our
[00:22] (22.92s)
first day we'll sail along Alaska's
[00:25] (25.00s)
spectacular southeast coast and spend
[00:27] (27.24s)
the better part of a week visiting four
[00:29] (29.28s)
distinct towns SS during the day and
[00:31] (31.24s)
enjoying all the Ultra Luxury this first
[00:33] (33.72s)
class ship has to offer at night we'll
[00:35] (35.64s)
end our journey in Vancouver
[00:38] (38.12s)
1,716 nautical miles later we arrived in
[00:41] (41.52s)
Seward by train the day before our
[00:43] (43.60s)
departure and the next morning we woke
[00:45] (45.64s)
up to beautiful weather and walked from
[00:47] (47.48s)
the harbor 360 hotel where we spent the
[00:49] (49.48s)
night over to the cruise terminal where
[00:51] (51.44s)
we caught our first glimpse of our ship
[00:53] (53.44s)
silver Nova home for the next 7 Days
[00:56] (56.12s)
silver SE is an ultr luxury
[00:57] (57.80s)
all-inclusive Cruise Company and silver
[01:00] (60.04s)
NOA is one of their newest ships she's
[01:02] (62.20s)
the first in a new class of ships for
[01:03] (63.88s)
the company and made her debut in August
[01:05] (65.84s)
2023 with space for 728 passengers and
[01:09] (69.20s)
544 crew that ratio means one of the
[01:11] (71.84s)
highest levels of service you'll find at
[01:13] (73.52s)
Sea and thanks to that small number of
[01:15] (75.60s)
passengers porting took virtually no
[01:17] (77.60s)
time at all even though this is a
[01:19] (79.36s)
smaller more Boutique ship it still
[01:23] (83.00s)
gigantic and as we stepped on board
[01:25] (85.24s)
First Impressions did not disappoint but
[01:28] (88.48s)
was it worth it well we'll tell you
[01:30] (90.16s)
exactly what we paid so you can decide
[01:32] (92.04s)
for yourself in any case we can't wait
[01:34] (94.24s)
to spend the next week exploring This
[01:35] (95.96s)
Magnificent ship with you our suite is
[01:38] (98.32s)
on the eighth floor which means a ride
[01:40] (100.44s)
on this awesome elevator with its view
[01:42] (102.56s)
of silvern noa's sistership silver Muse
[01:45] (105.60s)
it had just come in from Japan we're
[01:47] (107.64s)
booked into the entry-level Veranda
[01:49] (109.48s)
suite and we were impressed the minute
[01:51] (111.40s)
we walked in wow this place is
[01:54] (114.72s)
incredible and we're going to have
[01:55] (115.72s)
plenty of time to explore it in depth
[01:57] (117.80s)
over 7 days this is very mod feeling
[02:00] (120.92s)
beautiful design feels like a five-star
[02:02] (122.92s)
fancy hotel
[02:04] (124.32s)
cheers here's to a great Voyage but
[02:08] (128.12s)
before we could strike out we had a bit
[02:09] (129.64s)
of work to do something we don't often
[02:11] (131.68s)
do is unpack on our trips but here we're
[02:14] (134.32s)
here for a whole s days so feels really
[02:16] (136.32s)
nice to be able to unpack there's even
[02:17] (137.84s)
room to store Luggage in here as nice as
[02:20] (140.68s)
our room is we wanted to get out and
[02:22] (142.40s)
explore a bit again we'll give you a
[02:24] (144.40s)
complete overview later on but we were
[02:26] (146.56s)
in search of the best place to watch our
[02:28] (148.68s)
sailway and we found it outside at the
[02:31] (151.84s)
back of the ship in dusk bar best
[02:35] (155.00s)
feature heat lamps we are total Cruise
[02:37] (157.64s)
newbies this is really our first cruise
[02:39] (159.56s)
we took the Queen Mary 2 transatlantic
[02:41] (161.72s)
about a year ago but as we found out
[02:43] (163.52s)
that's a Crossing definitely not a
[02:45] (165.00s)
cruise uh we're excited to try it
[02:46] (166.48s)
excited to experience it we really don't
[02:48] (168.24s)
know what we're doing that said let's
[02:50] (170.16s)
get started first out of the gate was
[02:52] (172.16s)
silver Muse beginning a 14-day journey
[02:55] (175.00s)
through this part of the
[02:57] (177.16s)
world it was fun to wave goodbye to our
[02:59] (179.84s)
fellow passengers over
[03:01] (181.36s)
there soon it was our
[03:05] (185.36s)
turn we are officially underway next up
[03:08] (188.80s)
Adventure please please don't use that
[03:10] (190.84s)
going a cut cutting room floor lest you
[03:14] (194.52s)
forget it's 8:00 at night uh and it's
[03:17] (197.00s)
still this bright which is okay with me
[03:18] (198.48s)
because it means more time to enjoy this
[03:20] (200.28s)
stunning scenery here we bid farewell to
[03:23] (203.32s)
our pilot made our way to atlanti for
[03:25] (205.48s)
our first dinner on board just one of
[03:27] (207.24s)
some 10 restaurants on Silver noova we
[03:29] (209.84s)
see them all on this journey but for
[03:31] (211.44s)
tonight it was glazed beef tenderloin
[03:33] (213.88s)
with roasted peanuts pickled dcon egg
[03:36] (216.16s)
noodles just a sample of the worldclass
[03:39] (219.04s)
food we'll try on this journey tomorrow
[03:41] (221.76s)
though is a SE day but not just any SE
[03:44] (224.44s)
day our captain will guide our massive
[03:46] (226.40s)
ship right up close to the hover Glacier
[03:48] (228.92s)
but what you won't believe is the near
[03:50] (230.60s)
perfect weather for this Unforgettable
[03:52] (232.56s)
experience suzan's still asleep so I'm
[03:54] (234.60s)
going to go do some reading up here in
[03:56] (236.20s)
the observation Lounge it's a good night
[03:57] (237.88s)
of sleep a little rocking but nothing
[03:59] (239.80s)
like a train the ship was fairly quiet
[04:01] (241.84s)
at 7:15 which made it the perfect time
[04:04] (244.28s)
to take in the
[04:08] (248.28s)
views grab a cup of
[04:11] (251.28s)
coffee and just settle in for the day
[04:14] (254.84s)
this was a routine that quickly became a
[04:16] (256.88s)
comfortable way to start each day on
[04:18] (258.96s)
board as the morning progressed the
[04:21] (261.64s)
lounge filled up as other passengers
[04:23] (263.76s)
woke up and joined me in
[04:25] (265.52s)
here silver sea bills itself is an Ultra
[04:28] (268.44s)
Luxury all-inclusive cruise line but
[04:31] (271.00s)
what does that mean well basically that
[04:33] (273.56s)
everything's covered by your cruise fair
[04:35] (275.40s)
from The Gourmet dining and room service
[04:37] (277.68s)
to all drinks including your sweet's
[04:39] (279.44s)
mini bar you can book one complimentary
[04:41] (281.80s)
Excursion at each Port of Call
[04:43] (283.76s)
gratuities are also included for the
[04:45] (285.36s)
ship's crew there's even complimentary
[04:47] (287.72s)
Wi-Fi provided by starlink and while it
[04:49] (289.76s)
won't break any speed records it was
[04:51] (291.68s)
good enough for messaging and emails oh
[04:53] (293.72s)
and silver SE is the only cruise line
[04:55] (295.56s)
that offers Butler Service in every
[04:57] (297.28s)
single room on board speaking of all
[04:59] (299.80s)
that's included we made our way back to
[05:01] (301.68s)
atlan for a quick informal bite we'll
[05:04] (304.00s)
try one of silver Sea's most unusual
[05:06] (306.00s)
dining venues for dinner tonight but for
[05:08] (308.00s)
now these chicken wraps made for a nice
[05:10] (310.28s)
light lunch as with most cruises there's
[05:13] (313.16s)
no shortage of food everywhere you turn
[05:15] (315.28s)
there's restaurants or snacks so very
[05:17] (317.88s)
tempting with lunch I skipped on the
[05:20] (320.16s)
fries wasn't so good after lunch with my
[05:22] (322.16s)
coffee had to have a sweet after lunch
[05:25] (325.40s)
the weather cleared up nearly perfectly
[05:27] (327.96s)
as we approached the hubard glacier
[05:30] (330.52s)
While most passengers battled for space
[05:32] (332.36s)
at the front of the ship we made our way
[05:34] (334.64s)
to the AFT where we enjoyed equally
[05:36] (336.76s)
breathtaking views without crowds back
[05:39] (339.64s)
at the dusk bar it's sites like these
[05:42] (342.28s)
that put cruising in Alaska so high on
[05:44] (344.72s)
so many people's bucket lists this kind
[05:46] (346.96s)
of scenery is almost impossible to
[05:49] (349.24s)
believe is real but it very much is you
[05:53] (353.00s)
know it's a special day when the crew
[05:54] (354.40s)
were out taking pictures too
[06:00] (360.64s)
the waters here in the Wrangle St Elias
[06:02] (362.80s)
National Park and preserve are rich with
[06:04] (364.76s)
life you don't have to look too hard to
[06:09] (369.92s)
it the ship turned around Transforming
[06:12] (372.64s)
Our secluded spots in the AFT into front
[06:15] (375.32s)
row seats for this exceptional land and
[06:18] (378.32s)
Seascape I can't imagine a more perfect
[06:20] (380.72s)
day for this this is my favorite meal of
[06:22] (382.80s)
the day bar Stacks particularly the
[06:25] (385.52s)
toasted corn nuts that person I pick out
[06:28] (388.52s)
the good stuff
[06:33] (393.04s)
and as we slowly make our way back
[06:35] (395.16s)
through these icy waters to leave the
[06:36] (396.76s)
hover Glacier behind and continue our
[06:38] (398.64s)
journey through Alaska this
[06:40] (400.44s)
Unforgettable experience was a reminder
[06:42] (402.48s)
of why we' chosen to travel here in the
[06:44] (404.16s)
first place so how did we end up
[06:45] (405.84s)
deciding on Alaska as our first cruise
[06:48] (408.00s)
destination we were uh in Denali about 3
[06:51] (411.08s)
years ago now and had an amazing time
[06:53] (413.72s)
Inland in Alaska but we wanted to check
[06:55] (415.80s)
out the coastline and the best way to do
[06:57] (417.36s)
that well it's on a ship yeah Cru in
[06:59] (419.76s)
Alaska really seems like an iconic
[07:01] (421.40s)
destination there's so many places that
[07:03] (423.16s)
you could really only get to by ship or
[07:05] (425.08s)
air so Cruise seems ideal to see them
[07:07] (427.08s)
all to check out that scenery but what's
[07:09] (429.40s)
next let us know in the comments below
[07:11] (431.20s)
what are some of your favorite cruise
[07:12] (432.72s)
destinations but that also raises the
[07:14] (434.68s)
question about why we chose to travel
[07:16] (436.16s)
with silver sea in particular there are
[07:18] (438.28s)
dozens of cruise ships plying the
[07:20] (440.28s)
Alaskan Waters from all kinds of
[07:21] (441.68s)
different Cruise Lines we chose this
[07:23] (443.16s)
particular one for four main reasons
[07:25] (445.32s)
first some friends recommended silver SE
[07:27] (447.32s)
to us the itinerary worked really well
[07:29] (449.56s)
for us we like the small size of this
[07:31] (451.84s)
and finally the all-inclusive nature of
[07:33] (453.84s)
it was really perfect for us but more
[07:35] (455.80s)
about that as we continue this trip
[07:37] (457.28s)
tonight we dawned our bibs and took
[07:39] (459.32s)
advantage of one of silver se's
[07:40] (460.72s)
signature dining experiences by cooking
[07:42] (462.88s)
steaks on hot lava rocks at the grill
[07:45] (465.60s)
under the guidance of the silver sea
[07:47] (467.08s)
crew we cooked each steak for 4 minutes
[07:49] (469.60s)
per side Suzanne opted for a New York
[07:51] (471.76s)
strip and I had the filet turns out as
[07:54] (474.36s)
usual Suzanne made the better choice
[07:56] (476.36s)
than me hers was done a lot quicker than
[07:58] (478.28s)
mine first to cook class in Pang and now
[08:01] (481.68s)
I'm making my own steak in
[08:03] (483.48s)
Alaska as tasty as those steaks are the
[08:06] (486.40s)
baked s'more took a campfire treat to a
[08:09] (489.04s)
whole new
[08:10] (490.86s)
[Music]
[08:12] (492.72s)
level this was so much fun we're
[08:14] (494.88s)
definitely going to have to do it again
[08:16] (496.04s)
before we leave but now that we're
[08:17] (497.68s)
making our way into Juno it's time to
[08:19] (499.92s)
take a tour around the ship well it was
[08:21] (501.80s)
another good night of sleep about to
[08:23] (503.92s)
begin day number three for now let's
[08:27] (507.08s)
watch the approach into Juno
[08:29] (509.92s)
and as we got closer to Alaska state
[08:32] (512.00s)
capital we encountered whales and more
[08:33] (513.92s)
seabirds than could be counted it was a
[08:36] (516.44s)
magical way to start this day but now
[08:38] (518.72s)
that we've docked this seems like a
[08:40] (520.40s)
great time to take a tour of our ship
[08:42] (522.00s)
the silver Nova right now we're on the
[08:43] (523.60s)
very top deck number 11 but let's head
[08:45] (525.96s)
down and work our way back up deck by
[08:48] (528.28s)
deck first up deck three this area is
[08:51] (531.76s)
known as the shelter it's the Champagne
[08:53] (533.84s)
Bar here on the ship and my favorite
[08:55] (535.76s)
part of it is the fact that it's the
[08:56] (536.84s)
bottom of this huge Atrium it's three
[08:59] (539.04s)
levels down here up on Deck four there's
[09:01] (541.96s)
more to see this is the Venetian Lounge
[09:03] (543.96s)
it's the ship's theater where you find
[09:05] (545.28s)
all kinds of lectures and shows with
[09:07] (547.32s)
space for 370 guests we never had any
[09:09] (549.88s)
trouble finding space here for daytime
[09:11] (551.64s)
lectures that said most of the big shows
[09:14] (554.04s)
started at 1: p.m. well after our
[09:16] (556.40s)
bedtime we did hit one matina though and
[09:19] (559.04s)
it was a lot of
[09:20] (560.64s)
fun this is the Arts Cafe you can have a
[09:23] (563.12s)
coffee here dessert or even light meals
[09:25] (565.72s)
most times of the day also in the store
[09:27] (567.48s)
you find perception and future Cru
[09:30] (570.40s)
there's even a printer and computers
[09:32] (572.36s)
along with some daily games you can play
[09:35] (575.20s)
the elevators in the ship are
[09:36] (576.44s)
magnificent they've got Glass Walls but
[09:38] (578.24s)
who needs the elevators when you got the
[09:41] (581.16s)
stairs and that brings us to deck five
[09:44] (584.44s)
there are two libraries on board and
[09:46] (586.20s)
this is one of them right next door is
[09:48] (588.56s)
uh the connoisseur's corner which is the
[09:50] (590.08s)
smoking Lounge on board this is the
[09:52] (592.44s)
Panorama Lounge it's really bustling in
[09:54] (594.36s)
the afternoons there's trivia there all
[09:56] (596.24s)
kinds of games in here and uh a really
[09:58] (598.56s)
active place Al karaoke some nights this
[10:00] (600.92s)
is Dolce veto one of our favorite places
[10:02] (602.68s)
to grab a drink before dinner this is
[10:04] (604.48s)
silver note this is one of the
[10:05] (605.56s)
restaurants that requires reservations
[10:07] (607.00s)
and there several of them on board but
[10:08] (608.36s)
you can sneak in for a drink if there's
[10:09] (609.92s)
room at the bar here you'll find the
[10:11] (611.24s)
boutique it's right across the hall from
[10:12] (612.76s)
the casino which is great news you can
[10:14] (614.44s)
win your money and then spend it and
[10:16] (616.52s)
here's the spa fitness center and Salon
[10:18] (618.80s)
where I'm getting a haircut right now
[10:20] (620.68s)
always feel better after a haircut you
[10:22] (622.28s)
know deck 6 through 9 have all the
[10:24] (624.48s)
sweets and a quick climb up four flights
[10:27] (627.16s)
of stairs brings us to deck 10
[10:30] (630.24s)
you'll find the pool here there's a pool
[10:31] (631.96s)
bar there's even an orange tree believe
[10:34] (634.16s)
it or not just FYI it's not real it's
[10:36] (636.84s)
fake the pool's heated to about 73° but
[10:39] (639.84s)
you're not going to find me in there
[10:41] (641.36s)
with an air temperature in the 40s I may
[10:43] (643.48s)
not be dressed for it right now but this
[10:45] (645.16s)
is the ship's jogging path eight trips
[10:47] (647.08s)
around this equal one
[10:50] (650.64s)
mile this has to be one of my favorite
[10:52] (652.80s)
spots on silvern NOA it's the DUS bar
[10:55] (655.00s)
it's the way back of the ship great
[10:56] (656.72s)
place to watch sail away and grab a
[10:58] (658.16s)
drink this is salt bar now here in this
[11:00] (660.16s)
uh bar they use local ingredients no
[11:01] (661.80s)
matter where they're sailing in the
[11:02] (662.64s)
world the bar was stocked with Spirits
[11:04] (664.40s)
from Alaska and Canada it even featured
[11:06] (666.48s)
a menu with locally inspired cocktails
[11:08] (668.92s)
we even got to try our hand at mixing
[11:10] (670.44s)
some of them in a class we took as
[11:13] (673.24s)
promis the second Library it may just be
[11:16] (676.40s)
the most distinctive and beautiful place
[11:20] (680.28s)
ship this is the observation Lounge it's
[11:22] (682.60s)
quickly become my favorite place on the
[11:24] (684.40s)
entire ship I love starting my days here
[11:26] (686.52s)
and still more to see all the way up on
[11:28] (688.40s)
Deck 11 on the top deck deck 11 you'll
[11:31] (691.24s)
find this Whirlpool which
[11:33] (693.96s)
is really nice right now after running
[11:36] (696.72s)
all over the ship we stepped off to
[11:38] (698.44s)
stretch our legs even further here in
[11:40] (700.20s)
Juno with a beautiful hike through one
[11:42] (702.12s)
of the world's largest temperate
[11:43] (703.72s)
rainforests so we got away from the
[11:45] (705.48s)
group a little bit I think we're
[11:46] (706.52s)
probably not supposed to be doing that
[11:48] (708.04s)
but it's nice to uh it's nice to have a
[11:49] (709.92s)
little bit of the trail to ourselves out
[11:51] (711.80s)
here in the uh the Wilderness that is
[11:53] (713.88s)
Juno it's a beautiful part of the world
[11:55] (715.44s)
for sure and always good to be in nature
[11:57] (717.92s)
we'll share more about the incl included
[11:59] (719.60s)
excursions here on Silver sea a little
[12:01] (721.60s)
later in the video but for now just know
[12:03] (723.60s)
that some of our favorite experiences
[12:05] (725.28s)
from this cruise actually occurred off
[12:07] (727.44s)
the ship after that fantastic hike we
[12:10] (730.72s)
enjoyed pre- dinner canipes waiting for
[12:12] (732.72s)
us in our room these are also served in
[12:15] (735.04s)
the ship's bars we then returned to
[12:17] (737.52s)
Atlant tonight for
[12:19] (739.76s)
salmon a beetroot salad and one of this
[12:22] (742.64s)
evening's specials vener schnitzel it
[12:24] (744.88s)
was a good thing we ate up we have big
[12:26] (746.88s)
plans for you tomorrow on our fourth day
[12:29] (749.28s)
we visited Skagway which means it's time
[12:32] (752.28s)
for 24 hours on an Alaskan cruise every
[12:35] (755.36s)
night an electronic agenda for the next
[12:37] (757.20s)
day's activities appears on your sweet's
[12:39] (759.16s)
iPad and it was always full it's never
[12:42] (762.16s)
hard to stay busy from dawn to dusk here
[12:44] (764.96s)
goes it's 6:00 time to uh sit down enjoy
[12:48] (768.48s)
a cup of coffee 7:30 a.m. room service
[12:51] (771.60s)
breakfast omelet for Jeb fruit and
[12:53] (773.88s)
yogurt for me 8:30 a.m. headed out for
[12:57] (777.72s)
an Excursion
[13:00] (780.12s)
we chose the White Pass Scenic Railway
[13:01] (781.96s)
for our Excursion trains for the wind am
[13:05] (785.32s)
right this is not a video about trains
[13:08] (788.20s)
but Jeb can't help himself from
[13:10] (790.92s)
foaming back to the ship because 12:00
[13:13] (793.72s)
noon time for lunch and that means Ramen
[13:17] (797.36s)
1:00 time for some afternoon
[13:19] (799.68s)
coffee 2:00 it's workout time let's hit
[13:23] (803.28s)
gym 2:45 time for
[13:26] (806.76s)
shower that's much better 400 p.m. we're
[13:29] (809.68s)
at the theater to attend a
[13:31] (811.84s)
lecture it's 5:00 let's grab a
[13:35] (815.04s)
drink 700 p.m. dinner
[13:37] (817.76s)
time 9:00 time for
[13:41] (821.88s)
bed I think it's about time we show you
[13:44] (824.24s)
around our suite but first a visit to
[13:46] (826.72s)
the Arts Cafe for a quick light
[13:49] (829.88s)
breakfast watching Alaska go by never
[13:52] (832.48s)
gets old these views are incredible
[13:54] (834.08s)
Welcome to our Veranda Suite now this is
[13:56] (836.08s)
the entry-level Suite on the ship but
[13:57] (837.72s)
you wouldn't know it it's like a
[13:59] (839.16s)
five-star hotel uh everything is so well
[14:01] (841.40s)
appointed now we're going to talk more
[14:02] (842.56s)
about price a little later in the video
[14:04] (844.44s)
and let you know exactly what we paid
[14:05] (845.84s)
but for now what you need to know is
[14:07] (847.08s)
every Suite on this ship has a balcony
[14:09] (849.16s)
like that they also have these living
[14:10] (850.84s)
areas which are comfortable places to
[14:12] (852.72s)
enjoy watching the television it's
[14:14] (854.20s)
massive and includes a number of live
[14:16] (856.28s)
television channels as well as movies
[14:18] (858.16s)
but we've really enjoyed this which is
[14:20] (860.28s)
the bridge camera looking forward gives
[14:22] (862.00s)
you an opportunity to see what's coming
[14:24] (864.16s)
uh there's also a great channel that
[14:25] (865.40s)
allows you to track where the ship is in
[14:27] (867.44s)
the world and even the weather now here
[14:29] (869.68s)
at the desk it's been a great place to
[14:31] (871.32s)
get some work done there's an iPad to
[14:33] (873.28s)
control everything in the in the room as
[14:35] (875.52s)
well as a mini bar that's replenish
[14:37] (877.60s)
daily now speaking of that we have a
[14:39] (879.36s)
butler our Butler is really getting to
[14:40] (880.88s)
know us this chips Bowl never runs
[14:44] (884.56s)
empty the beds have been really nice
[14:46] (886.80s)
very comfortable uh despite a couple of
[14:48] (888.84s)
rough nights so far you get to choose
[14:50] (890.72s)
your bed configuration it's either one
[14:52] (892.64s)
queen bed or two twin beds as we have
[14:55] (895.08s)
yeah we chose the two twin beds for two
[14:56] (896.72s)
reasons one we're used to sleeping in a
[14:59] (899.04s)
king bed at home call us spoiled second
[15:01] (901.52s)
I tend to wake up earlier than Suzanne
[15:02] (902.96s)
but that way we're we're sort of less
[15:04] (904.60s)
disruptive to one another with the twin
[15:06] (906.04s)
beds but really they've been super
[15:07] (907.60s)
comfortable wouldn't you say comfortable
[15:09] (909.28s)
beding yep now coming this way there's a
[15:12] (912.24s)
uh really nices sized closet which we'll
[15:14] (914.68s)
check out in just a little bit and a
[15:16] (916.80s)
vanity here but the bathroom is really
[15:20] (920.08s)
something let me show you around now in
[15:22] (922.20s)
the past I've been criticized in our
[15:24] (924.52s)
bathroom tours for calling them
[15:26] (926.08s)
bathrooms there is a bathtub now there's
[15:29] (929.12s)
also a sink with two faucets plenty of
[15:31] (931.96s)
amenities moisturizers and soaps and
[15:34] (934.48s)
conditioners and everything you might
[15:35] (935.64s)
expect like that there's also a shower
[15:38] (938.24s)
I'm 5' 11 in tall and there's plenty of
[15:40] (940.36s)
room for me yeah this bathroom is
[15:42] (942.40s)
definitely impressive but let me show
[15:44] (944.88s)
you the closet too Welcome to our
[15:47] (947.36s)
massive walk-in closet there's so much
[15:49] (949.36s)
space in here you can definitely unpack
[15:51] (951.28s)
yourself for the week this is a great
[15:52] (952.72s)
opportunity to talk a little bit about
[15:54] (954.40s)
what should you pack for your Alaska
[15:55] (955.84s)
cruise we're taking this trip in miday
[15:58] (958.28s)
which is still pretty early in the
[16:00] (960.00s)
season but I think this is going to
[16:01] (961.64s)
apply All Summer Long the first thing
[16:03] (963.80s)
you got to have is layers layers and
[16:06] (966.72s)
layers waterproof fleece jacket bring
[16:10] (970.24s)
them all and this is the reason why it's
[16:12] (972.60s)
about 40° in sicka today there's only 17
[16:15] (975.64s)
sunny days here a year so bring those
[16:18] (978.32s)
layers the weather has been everything
[16:19] (979.84s)
from chilly and cold and windy to pretty
[16:22] (982.24s)
sunny and nice outside so pack for a
[16:24] (984.32s)
range bring a base layer we like Marino
[16:27] (987.00s)
it'll keep you warm all day long doing
[16:29] (989.28s)
those excursions if you get motion
[16:31] (991.20s)
sickness at all bring your wristbands
[16:33] (993.44s)
bring your motion sickness medicine I've
[16:35] (995.12s)
needed both on this trip like mostly
[16:37] (997.08s)
it's been pretty smooth inside the
[16:38] (998.56s)
Inside passage however out in the
[16:41] (1001.40s)
Pacific it's a little bit more rough the
[16:43] (1003.68s)
uh the waves today are about at 6 feet
[16:47] (1007.64s)
so uh we're definitely feeling it out
[16:49] (1009.32s)
here this is also a great opportunity to
[16:50] (1010.84s)
talk about the dress code on board
[16:52] (1012.52s)
silver Nova during the day it's fairly
[16:54] (1014.60s)
casual kind of like come as you are
[16:56] (1016.52s)
however come 600 p.m. the dress code
[16:58] (1018.24s)
switches to something something called
[16:59] (1019.80s)
elegant casual for ladies that means a
[17:02] (1022.60s)
blouse and skirt or slacks and for guys
[17:05] (1025.56s)
that means a collared shirt and slacks
[17:07] (1027.44s)
no jeans also no sneakers and the
[17:10] (1030.24s)
jacket's optional but for me I'm
[17:12] (1032.04s)
bringing it tonight dinner time are you
[17:15] (1035.24s)
ready let's see tonight we visited one
[17:18] (1038.08s)
of silver Sea's signature restaurants La
[17:20] (1040.28s)
Taza silver SE was originally an Italian
[17:22] (1042.96s)
cruise line so it only makes sense to
[17:24] (1044.48s)
retain that Heritage here you will need
[17:26] (1046.60s)
a reservation but they were easy to come
[17:28] (1048.60s)
by the menu was impressive particularly
[17:31] (1051.36s)
if you like freshly made pasta we
[17:33] (1053.76s)
started with a beautiful antipasto
[17:35] (1055.88s)
platter now I usually pass on bread but
[17:38] (1058.20s)
not here we were truly impressed by the
[17:40] (1060.48s)
lasagna but the perfectly prepared
[17:42] (1062.56s)
sliced beef with spinach and red wine
[17:44] (1064.48s)
sauce shouldn't be missed either can you
[17:46] (1066.96s)
believe this is all
[17:48] (1068.92s)
included while we're at it as we make
[17:51] (1071.04s)
our way into Ketch can let's show you a
[17:52] (1072.56s)
few of the restaurants you haven't seen
[17:54] (1074.28s)
yet Perhaps nothing is more synonymous
[17:56] (1076.80s)
with cruising than dining on board
[17:59] (1079.00s)
silvern NOA you'll have plenty of
[18:00] (1080.68s)
options this food is truly world class
[18:03] (1083.92s)
and don't forget it's practically all
[18:05] (1085.96s)
included in our cruise Fair first up in
[18:08] (1088.44s)
the mornings and at lunch larazza where
[18:10] (1090.44s)
we ate last night becomes the ship's
[18:12] (1092.00s)
buffet and there's no shortage of
[18:14] (1094.20s)
options here Suzanne mentioned the Arts
[18:17] (1097.04s)
Cafe during our ship tour because we
[18:18] (1098.72s)
considered it so much more than a
[18:20] (1100.08s)
restaurant there was of course always
[18:22] (1102.44s)
food available but it was the coffee
[18:24] (1104.60s)
that kept us coming back there are two
[18:26] (1106.88s)
restaurants on board with an additional
[18:28] (1108.40s)
fee if you choose to eat there first
[18:30] (1110.28s)
ladam is a French restaurant since we
[18:32] (1112.76s)
don't really like french food though we
[18:34] (1114.36s)
skipped out but we absolutely loved
[18:37] (1117.04s)
kaiseki the ship's Japanese restaurant
[18:39] (1119.32s)
we had lunch here one day Ramen of
[18:41] (1121.36s)
course and that's included but we also
[18:43] (1123.48s)
had here for dinner one night the
[18:45] (1125.48s)
multi-course tasting menu came in at $80
[18:48] (1128.04s)
per person it was the only time we spent
[18:49] (1129.96s)
any additional money on food or drinks
[18:52] (1132.00s)
on board and it was 100% worth it at
[18:55] (1135.08s)
each restaurant each night white and red
[18:57] (1137.72s)
wines were available the choices Chang
[18:59] (1139.80s)
nightly and it's also possible to order
[19:01] (1141.36s)
something a bit more special from the
[19:02] (1142.64s)
ship's seller if you want it as much as
[19:04] (1144.72s)
we'd hope to check out silver note the
[19:06] (1146.36s)
ship's jazz club it was another
[19:08] (1148.32s)
reservations required restaurant and we
[19:10] (1150.12s)
just never made the time for it the
[19:11] (1151.96s)
Marquee is a new to this ship space it's
[19:14] (1154.96s)
by far the most casual dining space on
[19:16] (1156.68s)
board which elevated at the top of our
[19:18] (1158.48s)
list it combines spaa napole the ship's
[19:21] (1161.04s)
pizza restaurant which is open from 11
[19:22] (1162.76s)
a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with the grill which
[19:24] (1164.96s)
is open for lunch at night though this
[19:27] (1167.40s)
is the space where Suzanne and I I cook
[19:29] (1169.08s)
those steaks on hot lava rocks of course
[19:31] (1171.92s)
there's always room service it's
[19:33] (1173.20s)
available 24 hours a day and you can
[19:35] (1175.00s)
order pretty much whatever you want
[19:36] (1176.88s)
whenever you want it all you have to do
[19:38] (1178.52s)
is ask your butler but we're saving the
[19:41] (1181.08s)
best restaurant on board for our final
[19:42] (1182.96s)
meal for now though I think we can all
[19:45] (1185.12s)
agree you didn't come all the way to
[19:46] (1186.40s)
Alaska just to sit on a cruise ship
[19:48] (1188.04s)
right you want to get out there and
[19:49] (1189.24s)
check out the activities so on Silver
[19:51] (1191.40s)
sea there's a choice of about 5 to 10
[19:53] (1193.84s)
excursions per Port which are included
[19:55] (1195.52s)
you got to choose one and which we pre
[19:57] (1197.48s)
mostly pre-booked for the cruise yeah
[19:59] (1199.88s)
and there's all kinds of stuff good mix
[20:01] (1201.28s)
of things that are active and not active
[20:03] (1203.84s)
uh let's see we've had a couple of
[20:05] (1205.88s)
really great hikes and also we got to
[20:08] (1208.36s)
ride on that White Pass Scenic Railway
[20:10] (1210.68s)
there's just tons of options that really
[20:12] (1212.60s)
kind of fit whatever you want out of
[20:14] (1214.16s)
your Alaska vacation but I think you're
[20:15] (1215.80s)
right the last thing we' want to do is
[20:18] (1218.28s)
uh just hang out on the ship As Nice it
[20:20] (1220.24s)
as it is the whole time so let's head
[20:22] (1222.32s)
out here in ketan we made our way off
[20:24] (1224.36s)
the ship and onto our very first
[20:26] (1226.36s)
hovercraft we visited this beach where
[20:28] (1228.48s)
we got up close and personal with our
[20:30] (1230.36s)
national bird you could also choose not
[20:32] (1232.52s)
to go on an Excursion and just explore
[20:34] (1234.08s)
around on your own in each Port we Ben
[20:35] (1235.80s)
in you can either walk to town or the
[20:37] (1237.64s)
ship provides a shuttle or Tender and
[20:39] (1239.44s)
there's plenty to do in each of these
[20:40] (1240.72s)
Port Towns they're really designed for
[20:42] (1242.20s)
this there are three or four ships at
[20:44] (1244.00s)
each one we've seen so far there are a
[20:45] (1245.56s)
lot of people running around but it's
[20:47] (1247.20s)
it's worth your time just to explore
[20:48] (1248.48s)
Town what about our favorite dinner well
[20:50] (1250.68s)
it was in salt kitchen which is an
[20:52] (1252.16s)
acronym for sea and land taste we love
[20:54] (1254.76s)
this restaurant again I have a hard time
[20:56] (1256.72s)
believing this is all included this was
[20:58] (1258.44s)
a a fine dining experience Bar N they
[21:00] (1260.76s)
use local ingredients like in this
[21:02] (1262.48s)
salmon run starter it's freshly caught
[21:04] (1264.64s)
salmon with horseradish sauuce and
[21:06] (1266.28s)
sturgen and salmon caviar or Suzanne's
[21:08] (1268.96s)
Kodiak kale salad with strawberries
[21:11] (1271.24s)
candied walnuts and even cheese curds
[21:13] (1273.92s)
but this halib we had for Mains well it
[21:17] (1277.16s)
Unforgettable but maybe the best part
[21:19] (1279.20s)
was this special dessert Baked Alaska
[21:21] (1281.68s)
I've been waiting a long time for this
[21:23] (1283.44s)
there can be no more perfect dessert for
[21:25] (1285.24s)
an Alaska cruise our final day on board
[21:27] (1287.96s)
was at se which makes it the perfect
[21:29] (1289.92s)
time to reflect on our time on board
[21:31] (1291.80s)
share our final thoughts and the price
[21:34] (1294.12s)
for this 7-Day
[21:36] (1296.88s)
Adventure I think my favorite aspect of
[21:39] (1299.32s)
this Alaska cruise experience was the
[21:41] (1301.28s)
opportunity to get out and explore this
[21:43] (1303.12s)
part of the world it seems kind of
[21:44] (1304.80s)
counterintuitive to say but as nice as
[21:47] (1307.08s)
the ship was and it was the best part of
[21:49] (1309.48s)
the cruise for me was everything that
[21:51] (1311.24s)
happened off the cruise the excursions
[21:53] (1313.56s)
we experienced are what I can't stop
[21:55] (1315.28s)
thinking about we also loved unpacking
[21:57] (1317.56s)
once and seeing multiple towns as our
[21:59] (1319.92s)
hotel traveled with us the all-inclusive
[22:02] (1322.76s)
nature of silver sea was also an aspect
[22:04] (1324.64s)
we particularly enjoyed the downsides
[22:07] (1327.56s)
though for us in this trip were fairly
[22:09] (1329.08s)
Limited in fact it's probably more of an
[22:11] (1331.48s)
us problem than a silver sea problem
[22:13] (1333.88s)
they were often just so many choices we
[22:16] (1336.04s)
suffered from fomo with 10 different
[22:19] (1339.04s)
restaurants and an almost endless supply
[22:21] (1341.24s)
of excursions to choose from we didn't
[22:23] (1343.16s)
want to miss any of them it was just
[22:25] (1345.00s)
sometimes difficult to make decisions
[22:27] (1347.12s)
another downside again perhaps limited
[22:29] (1349.04s)
to us was that there just weren't very
[22:30] (1350.84s)
many options for dinner unless we
[22:32] (1352.48s)
dressed up if we wanted to stay casual
[22:34] (1354.88s)
we could only eat in our room or the
[22:36] (1356.84s)
grill but we had to have a reservation
[22:38] (1358.52s)
there but what about the cost well
[22:40] (1360.92s)
silver SE offers three levels of cruise
[22:42] (1362.88s)
fairs we chose Port toport because that
[22:45] (1365.08s)
included excursions and we made our own
[22:46] (1366.76s)
arrangements to get to and from the ship
[22:48] (1368.72s)
again all fair classes include virtually
[22:50] (1370.80s)
all on board food and drinks so we paid
[22:54] (1374.92s)
$3,750 per person for seven nights on
[22:57] (1377.60s)
board all in we really like traveling
[23:00] (1380.44s)
with silver sea and you'll almost
[23:01] (1381.92s)
certainly find us on board another one
[23:03] (1383.28s)
of their ships again sometime soon
[23:05] (1385.20s)
between now and the next time Sea on the
[23:07] (1387.48s)
Seas who are you waving at folks in
[23:10] (1390.08s)
downtown
[23:11] (1391.88s)
Seward there's there's nobody there yeah
[23:14] (1394.12s)
I don't see anybody
[23:17] (1397.16s)
out calls right now all
[23:23] (1403.80s)
inclusives my my nickname in college
[23:25] (1405.96s)
will one take Brooks
[23:31] (1411.40s)
this would be better with a blanket com
[23:33] (1413.00s)
with the carpet on
[23:34] (1414.60s)
shikishima dab did you bring your hat
[23:36] (1416.56s)
and gloves I didn't get your tips before
[23:39] (1419.28s)
we left though
